Training
Learning hub, skills development, community programs, and the next generation.
Training Centre โ Learning Hub
A community education spine tied to Slow Food, culture, heritage, and practical livelihoods.
Facilities
- Library / reading room โ farming, fishing, animal care, building, food safety, business, local language, stories, recipes, history
- Desktop computer lab โ learning-only focus, supervised, structured layout
Access
- Paid sessions during standard hours (covers power, maintenance, supervision)
- Free learning sessions for children on weekends (scheduled, supervised)
Children โ Pride in Land-Based Skills
Principle: Children do not need to become doctors to be successful. Pride and dignity in being a farmer, fisher, builder, cook, or maker must be restored.
- Children's garden plots and responsibilities they can own
- Badges / certificates for practical skills (tool safety, seedling care, composting, animal care)
- Showcase days โ children present what they grew/made/cooked to families
- Local language and heritage sessions
- Mentor talks from respected locals
Fun & Encouragement
Approach: Service and learning must include fun. Participation is rewarded with belonging, play, and recognition โ not shame or punishment.
Earned fun time (after service blocks)
- Offline games: chess, checkers/dama, scrabble/word games, puzzles, traditional local games
- Creative hour: drawing, crafts, poster-making (River Guardians), simple builds (bamboo birdhouse, signage)
- Movie/story time: short family-safe cultural or educational screenings
- Play and movement: simple ball games, tug-of-war, obstacle courses, safe outdoor play blocks
Simple credits system
1 service session = 1 token/stamp. Tokens unlock: priority computer-learning slots, access to games hour/movie hour, and entry to special workshops (cooking club, animal club, garden club).
Guardrails
Fun time follows service and learning; it does not replace them. No gambling-style prizes; keep rewards wholesome and community-focused. Games and activities are chosen to support teamwork, calm behaviour, and confidence.
