About the Role

This is primarily an education role focused on Brighde (age 7, Grade 3 level) and 1–2 other young children (ages 6–9) who may join on-site.

Brighde is very bright, reads/writes English at high level, needs maths support, and Tagalog + Bicolano lessons.

The hub has farmers, bakers, chefs, elders, and other teachers on-site daily — they will handle most practical/cultural training (cooking, ferments, pottery, weaving, planting, animal care).

Your main job is real school/education coordination: structured daily lessons for the kids, plus light oversight of the Slow Food training spoke (classes, events, production).

Key Responsibilities

1. Core Education & Tutoring

Deliver daily Grade 3 home-schooling for Brighde (and 1–2 other young kids if present):

  • English: advanced reading/writing practice (stories, journals, hub-themed writing)
  • Maths: focused 30–45 min daily (addition/subtraction to multiplication/division basics, shapes, time, money — use real hub examples like jar counting, produce pricing)
  • Tagalog & Bicolano: daily conversational lessons (greetings, numbers, songs, simple sentences — use elders/classes for immersion)
  • Other subjects: basic science (plants, animals, ferments), Araling Panlipunan (Bicol/Cordillera culture), arts/crafts
Schedule: Flexible — morning desk lessons (30–60 min blocks), afternoon practical observation (kids watch/join safe hub activities with other teachers).
  • Track progress (worksheets, spoken fluency, drawings) — monthly report to Aileen
  • Use DepEd Grade 3 modules, simple apps (Khan Kids), books — keep it joyful, no pressure

2. Slow Food & Training Spoke Oversight

  • Coordinate weekly/monthly classes & quarterly Luzon Elders Circle events (schedule guest teachers: farmers, bakers, chefs, elders)
  • Light production support: oversee jars/mats/pots for sale (burong, pili butter, achara, sili paste, tinapa, longganisa)
  • Handle event logistics (elder invites, transport, meals) & budget tracking

3. Tech & Admin

  • Computer savvy: use Loyverse POS, farmgate-app, Google Drive/Sheets for schedules, budgets, progress tracking
  • Add simple tech to kids' learning (basic phone photos of hub activities, simple spreadsheets for math)
  • Post short class/event updates on socials/farmgate-app
